Longwood beats NAIA Southern Virginia 99-64

FARMVILLE, Va. (AP) — Martiz Washington scored 18 points to lead six Longwood players in double figures in a 99-64 win over Southern Virginia on Wednesday night.

Antwan Carter had his 12th double-double of the season, scoring 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting and grabbing 13 rebounds for the Lancers (10-19). Jeremiah Bowman and Aaron Mitchell chipped in 16 points each, Mark Parker had 12 points and Durann Neil 10 against the NAIA Knights (17-8).

Longwood, which led the entire way, shot 60 percent (39 of 65), including 13 of 23 from 3-point range. Bowman and Mitchell tallied seven assists each as the Lancers finished with 27, compared to 10 turnovers. Southern Virginia turned it over 14 times, leading to 17 Lancers’ points.

Anders Jacobson paced the Knights with 16 points. Casey Nye added 13 points and Isaac Jacobson 10 for Southern Virginia, which shot 36.1 percent from the field (26 of 72).
