Carter, Longwood beat Cal State-Bakersfield 79-72

FARMVILLE, Va. (AP) — Antwan Carter scored 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as Longwood beat Cal State-Bakersfield 79-72 on Saturday for its third straight win.

Carter got 18 points in the first half, when the Lancers (11-19) shot 61.3 percent (19 of 31) en route to a 51-42 halftime lead.

Donovan Bragg scored 30 points for the Roadrunners (9-16), who had a 32-18 rebounding advantage in the second half, including 16-5 on the offensive boards.

The closest the Roadrunners came in the second half was five points, 71-66, with 2:47 left after two free throws by Rashad Savage. Martiz Washington answered with a 3-pointer and Aaron Mitchell hit two free throws for a 76-66 Longwood lead with 1:06 remaining.

Washington and Jeremiah Bowman each scored 13 points for Longwood, and Mitchell had 12.

Alex Johnson scored 11 points and Savage 10 for Cal State-Bakersfield, which lost its fifth straight.
