St. Francis (Pa.) beats Fairleigh Dickinson 77-65

HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) — Umar Shannon scored 27 points as St. Francis (Pa.) ended a six-game losing streak with a 77-65 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday night.

Shannon, who was 7 of 10 from 3-point range, hit a pair of 3-pointers during a 13-2 second-half run that gave the Red Flash (8-19, 6-10 Northeast Conference) a 58-48 lead with 8:40 remaining.

St. Francis, which is battling Sacred Heart and Monmouth for the final berth in the conference tournament, shot 66.7 percent (12 of 18) in the second half.

Shannon has averaged 21.1 points in his last 11 games.

The Knights (4-23, 2-14) led briefly in each half but still lost their 11th consecutive game and 14th consecutive conference game.

Chris Johnson had 11 points and five assists for St. Francis and Scott Eatherton had 10 points.

John Galvin had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Mike Scott had 15 points for Fairleigh Dickinson.
