AIGLE, Switzerland (AP) — The International Cycling Union says the Gulf state of Oman will compete with Richmond, Va., and Quebec City for the hosting rights for the 2015 road cycling world championships.

The governing body’s management board will choose the winner in September during the road worlds in Copenhagen.

The 2015 contest was limited to non-European bidders as the UCI seeks to develop cycling globally.
