Purcell has first hat trick in Lightning’s 8-3 win

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Teddy Purcell had his first career hat trick, Vincent Lecavalier added a goal and four assists and the Tampa Bay Lightning ended Phoenix’s eight-game winning streak with an 8-3 victory over the Coyotes on Wednesday night.

Purcell had one of the five opening-period goals, and added a pair during the second.

Steven Stamkos scored his NHL-leading 41st goal this season, and Martin St. Louis also had two goals and an assist for the Lightning, who are 6-3-2 during a 12-game homestand.

St. Louis (22 goals, 50 assists) has five straight seasons of at least 20 goals and 50 assists. Adam Hall had the other Tampa Bay goal.

Phoenix got goals from Martin Hanzal, Kyle Turris and David Schlemko. The eight goals is the most allowed by the Coyotes this season.
