Stony Brook rallies to beat Hartford 79-73 in OT

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Bryan Dougher scored nine consecutive points in overtime to lift Stony Brook to a 79-73 comeback win over Hartford on Wednesday night, sweeping the season series.

The Seawolves (12-16, 7-8 America East Conference), who shot a season-high 50 percent (27 of 54), overcame a 10-point deficit with 6:05 left in regulation. Leonard Hayes hit a 3-pointer to tie it at 63 with 6 seconds on the clock.

The Hawks (9-19, 6-9) who lost to Stony Brook 69-35 on Jan. 29, pulled ahead 67-64 in overtime.

After Danny Carter’s free throw made it 67-65, Dougher scored on a 3-pointer, a jumper, a layup and two free throws to give Stony Brook a 74-67 lead, the 17th lead change of the game, with 46 seconds left.

Hartford got to 76-73 with 26 seconds left, then the Seawolves hit 3 of 4 free throws to seal the win.

Joe Zeglinski had 24 points, hitting seven of the Hawks’ 15 3-pointers.
