RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes acquired forward Cory Stillman from the Florida Panthers on Thursday in exchange for forward Ryan Carter and a draft pick.

The trade gives the Hurricanes a veteran goal-scorer as they push for their second playoff berth since they won their only Stanley Cup in 2006. Stillman was a key member of that team.

The 37-year-old had seven goals and 16 assists in 44 games this season with the Panthers. Carolina traded him to Ottawa in 2008 in the deal that brought defenseman Joe Corvo to the Hurricanes.

The 27-year-old Carter has one goal and five assists in 50 NHL games this season. Carolina acquired him in a trade with Anaheim in November. The Panthers also will receive Carolina’s fifth round pick in this year’s draft.
