FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) — Terence Grier scored 34 points to lead Fairleigh Dickinson to an 85-74 victory over Sacred Heart on Thursday night, stopping an 11-game losing streak.
The Knights (5-23, 3-14 Northeast Conference) had lost 14 consecutive conference games and hadn’t won since defeating Houston Baptist on Jan. 17.
Grier, who entered averaging 11.1 points this season, was 14 of 22 from the field and 4 of 5 on 3-point attempts to help Fairleigh Dickinson shoot 53.3 percent from the field (32 of 60).
John Galvin’s layup gave Fairleigh Dickinson a 78-71 lead with 1:33 left and Grier followed with another layup to push the advantage to 80-71 with 1:18 to play.
