SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Legislature looking to get tough on child prosecution.

Lawmakers are considering a bill that would impose a $20,000 fine for people convicted of paying for sex with a person younger than 18. The House Judiciary Committee will hold a public hearing on the measure on Friday.

The bill says defendants cannot argue that they didn’t know the prostitute was a minor.
