Brewers’ Braun embracing manager’s plans

PHOENIX (AP) — Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun finished last season with a flourish after a trying year in which the young star admitted baseball stopped being fun.

But Braun says the vibe around camp is completely different under new manager Ron Roenicke (REN’-ah-key). Roenicke made it a point to sit down to dinner with Braun in the offseason to get to know one of the team’s biggest characters.

Roenicke says Braun has the talent, brains and personality to be a strong spokesman and leader for the Brewers.

Braun appreciates the manager’s trust, and says he’d rather lead by example than talk about what the Brewers might do this season as they try to return to the playoffs after a trip in 2008.
