Balanced New Jersey Tech stops North Dakota 59-52

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Lamar Kearse led five New Jersey Tech players in double figures Saturday in a 59-52 victory over North Dakota.

Isaiah Wilkerson added 11 points for the Highlanders (14-13, 8-2 Great West), who have won seven of their last eight. Chris Flores, P.J. Miller and Arjun Ohri scored 10 points apiece, and Flores had six steals.

Brandon Brekke scored a career-high 19 points and grabbed a game-best eight rebounds to pace the Sioux (13-14, 5-4), who lost their third in a row. Troy Huff added 12 points.

The Highlanders led 50-38 before the Sioux used an 8-0 run to trim it to 50-46 with 4:45 left.

North Dakota closed within 53-50 with 1:15 to go, but the Highlanders drained six free throws in the final 29 seconds to sweep the season series.

The Highlanders outshot the Sioux 36.5 percent (19 of 52) to 34.0 percent (17 of 50).
