White leads way as Texas State edges UTSA 82-80

SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Ryan White scored 25 points, including two free throws with 0.3 seconds remaining, to lead Texas State to an 82-80 victory over UTSA on Saturday.

White’s game-winning points followed three lead changes and three ties in the final 2 minutes. White hit two foul shots with 27 second left to give the Bobcats (15-13, 10-4 Southland) an 80-79 advantage before Melvin Johnson III made 1-of-2 free throws to tie it with 6 seconds to play.

Johnson led the Roadrunners (14-13, 7-7) with 21 points, Devin Gibson had 18 and Jeromie Hill 16.

Tony Bishop added 14 points and 12 rebounds for Texas State.

UTSA shot 57.7 percent in the first half and took a 38-33 lead into halftime. The Roadrunners pushed their lead to 10 before the Bobcats rallied with a 13-0 run to pull ahead 56-53 with 9:58 to go. Neither team led by more than four the rest of the way.
