BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff is eager to see what offensive spark newly acquired forward Brad Boyes can provide for one final playoff push.
Ruff spoke enthusiastically about Boyes’ addition after practice Monday, a day after the Sabres acquired the two-time 30-goal-scorer in a trade with St. Louis. Ruff initially expects to play Boyes on a line centered by Tim Connolly.
Buffalo gave up a second-round draft pick to acquire Boyes late Sunday after he played for the Blues in a 1-0 loss at Calgary. Boyes was scheduled to join the team as it prepares for a seven-game road-trip, which opens Tuesday against the New York Rangers.
The Sabres sit two points behind Carolina for the Eastern Conference’s eighth and final playoff spot.
