Selection committee getting 2 new members in fall

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — LSU vice chancellor Joe Alleva and West Coast conference commissioner Jamie Zaninovich have been appointed to the NCAA men’s basketball committee.

Both will serve join the committee in September with five-year terms, the NCAA says. They will replace Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith and California-Riverside athletic director Stan Morrison, whose terms are expiring.

Alleva became LSU’s athletic director in June 2008 after spending the previous 32 years at Duke.

Zaninovich took over as West Coast commissioner in 2008, has served as Princeton’s associate athletic director for external relations and worked at Stanford. He is current chair of the NCAA’s Division I College Commissioners Association.
