South Alabama beats Middle Tennessee State 63-57

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Tim Williams scored 25 points and was the only player in double figures for South Alabama in a 63-57 win over Middle Tennessee State on Sunday.

The Jaguars (7-6, 1-1 Sun Belt Conference) trailed 57-55 with 3:49 remaining, but three free throws from Williams gave South Alabama a 58-57 advantage with 3:08 left to play.

Allyn Cooks scored nine points and dished out seven assists for the Jaguars, who have won five of their last six contests.

Williams finished 7 of 11 from the field (63.6 percent) and 10 for 11 from the free-throw line (90.9 percent), while the rest of his South Alabama teammates combined to go just 12 for 35 from the floor (34.3 percent).

James Washington III scored 11 points and Jason Jones added 10 for the Blue Raiders (5-9, 0-1), who went 0 for 8 from the field over the final 3:48 and shot just 36.2 percent (21 for 58) for the game.
