MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Jason Jones scored 16 points and Shawn Jones added 15 to lead Middle Tennessee to a 78-71 victory over North Texas on Wednesday night.
Trevor Ottley added 10 points for the Blue Raiders (6-9, 1-1 Sun Belt Conference), who shot 50 percent from the floor in the second half (13 of 26) to hold off North Texas (13-3, 2-1) for their second win in three games.
Jason Jones scored four points to key a late 7-1 run that extended Middle Tennessee’s lead from 68-66 with 3:57 left to play to 75-67 with 57 seconds left.
North Texas, which had a six-game winning streak snapped, cut the deficit to 75-69 on Tristan Thompson’s free throws with 41 seconds left, but could get no closer.
