The Gen. George C. Marshall Youth Leadership Award is presented annually to a Clark County 11th- or 12th-grade student who demonstrates leadership, takes a stand for the rights of others, serves as a role model, shows initiative and motivates others to become involved.

The award honors Gen. George C. Marshall, who lived at the Marshall House on Officers Row from 1936 to 1938 as commander of the U.S. Army’s 5th Infantry brigade.

Nomination forms can be picked up at the Fort Vancouver National Trust office at the Gen. O.O. Howard House, 750 Anderson St.; or downloaded at http://www.fortvan.org. Or call the Trust office at 360-992-1800. The nomination deadline is 5 p.m. Feb. 10. The recipient will be announced March 4.

The award recipient will receive a $2,500 college scholarship, $500 paid summer internship in the Trust’s Celebrate Freedom office, a biography of Gen. Marshall, the chance to meet with local elected representatives and the opportunity to participate in Celebrate Freedom events.
