LAKEVIEW, Ore. (AP) — A traffic stop in southern Oregon has led to the arrest of a man sought on a Cuyahoga County, Ohio, fugitive warrant listing kidnap and rape offenses.

Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings says a trooper stopped a car with Ohio plates on Tuesday afternoon for speeding in the Lakeview area. The male driver reportedly sped away for a short distance before stopping and the trooper suspected the driver was providing a false name.

The driver taken into custody was later identified as 38-year-old Robert Michael Gebhardt of Parma, Ohio.

Hastings said late Wednesday he had no details on the Ohio offenses and the Ohio sheriff’s detectives were not immediately reachable.

Gebhardt was lodged at the Lake County Jail on $1 million bail.
