A Vancouver man was taken to a hospital Wednesday after his pickup hydroplaned and rolled on Interstate 205 south of Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard in Cascade Park.

Kenneth E. Franck, 57, was in the emergency department of Southwest Washington Medical Center on Wednesday night; his condition was not immediately available.

He suffered back pain from the crash, according to a bulletin from the Washington State Patrol.

About 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, Franck was driving a 2002 Ford pickup north in the left lane when it hydroplaned, veered out of control and hit the concrete median barrier, the bulletin said.

The truck then rolled and stopped on its tires in the left lane.

A 2002 Kia Spectra driven north by Raymond M. Ries, 51, of Vancouver then hit the truck.

Ries was not reported injured.

The accident was caused by Franck driving too fast for road, weather and traffic conditions, and he was ticketed for that violation, the bulletin said.
