IDUKKI, India (AP) — Indian officials say more than 100 pilgrims have been killed in stampede following a religious festival in southern India.

The stampede occurred Friday night when a jeep filled with pilgrims lost control and smashed into a crowd of worshippers returning from offering prayers at a shrine in the state of Kerala, said Sanjay Kumar, a top police official in the area.
