MARIBOR, Slovenia (AP) — The women’s World Cup giant slalom race scheduled for Saturday has been canceled after 25 racers because of warm weather causing poor course conditions.

Temperatures of nearly 60 degrees in Slovenia had softened the snow over the past few days and the condition of the slope worsened during the race.

Olympic champion Viktoria Rebensburg of Germany posted the fastest time ahead of Slovenia’s Tina Maze and World Cup leader Maria Riesch.

A decision about Sunday’s slalom on the same course will be made shortly before the race.
