GOP’s health care repeal: Now for the hard part

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Republicans have voted to begin the work of replacing President Barack Obama’s landmark law that expands health insurance coverage.

A day after a party-line vote to repeal the legislation, the House voted 253-175 Thursday to direct four committees to draft alternatives that reflect the GOP’s smaller government philosophy.

But leaders have set no deadlines for the committees. Republicans say don’t look for a single, sweeping bill. Instead, they may go after Obama’s law piece-by-piece. Senate Democrats are vowing to block that.
