LYNNWOOD, Wash. (AP) — Most of northbound Interstate 5 in Lynnwood is blocked after a person dropped from an overpass onto cars below. Washington State Patrol Trooper Keith Leary says a medical examiner has reached the scene to remove the victim.

The State Patrol says some traffic is moving in the carpool lane but the Friday afternoon backup was reported to stretch for five miles.

Leary tells KOMO-TV that how the person ended up on the freeway is under investigation. He says several other vehicles also were involved.

Leary says troopers are processing evidence on three of the four freeway lanes near the Alderwood Mall.
