EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) — Shawn Atupem had 17 points, six rebounds and six steals as Mount St. Mary’s beat Quinnipiac 72-63 on Saturday night.
Atupem’s final point gave the senior 1,000 in his career as the Mountaineers (7-14, 5-3 Northeast Conference) won their third consecutive game.
Mount St. Mary’s led 52-40 with 10:55 remaining, but the Bobcats (12-7, 4-4) scored the next 10 points, five by Dave Johnson, to get to 52-50.
Atupem scored five points as Mount St. Mary’s went on a 7-0 run, but Quinnipiac got within four, 61-57, with 4:16 remaining. Josh Castellanos then hit a 3-pointer with 3:58 left for the Mountaineers, who never led by fewer than five after that.
