Long leads George Mason past James Madison 75-73

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) — Cam Long scored 30 points and George Mason held off James Madison in a 75-73 win on Saturday.

Ryan Pearson finished with 14 points, Isaiah Tate had 12 and Luke Hancock added 11 for the Patriots (14-5, 6-2 Colonial Athletic Association), who have won four in a row.

George Mason overcame an eight-point deficit in the second half, pulling ahead on Tate’s 3-pointer to give the Patriots a 52-50 lead with 9:59 remaining. Tate, who made all five of his field goal attempts, knocked down another 3 to push George Mason’s advantage to seven with 8:16 to play.

The Dukes cut the margin to one point with 3 seconds left on a 3-pointer by Andrey Semenov. But the Patriots held on after a free throw from Long, who went 10 of 13 from the line.

Denzel Bowles scored 21 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, blocked six shots but also had five turnovers for James Madison (15-5, 5-3).
