Anderson, Richmond defeat Dayton 70-61

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Kevin Anderson scored 26 points and Justin Harper added 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead Richmond to a 70-61 win over Dayton on Tuesday night.

The Spiders (16-5, 5-1 Atlantic 10 Conference) shot 45.8 percent from the floor (11 of 24) in the opening half, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range (62.5 percent) en route to a 30-28 halftime lead. Anderson scored 18 points on three 3-pointers and 7-of-11 shooting overall in the first half.

Chris Wright gave the Flyers (15-6, 3-3) their only lead of the game, 37-35, on a layup just over 3 1/2 minutes into the second half. Wright finished with 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting.

Richmond scored eight straight after Wright’s layup to take a 43-37 lead with 9:10 left to play. The Spiders stretched their lead to as many as 12, 56-44, with 6:59 to go.

Dan Geriot added 13 points for Richmond, which has won five of its last six games.
