Man charged with murder released from Wash., jail

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A 23-year-old man has been released from a Clark County, Wash., jail, and police in Portland, Ore., say murder charges against him will be formally dismissed on Tuesday.

Isaiah Eric Mandley Jr. was arrested at an apartment in Vancouver, Wash., last Wednesday. He had been charged with murder and attempted murder in the shooting death of 34-year-oldLeonard James “LJ” Irving, who died June 26 in Portland. Two other men were wounded.

Portland Police Sgt. Pete Simpson says detectives and prosecutors decided to release Mandley on Sunday after receiving new information in the investigation.

Mandley was in the Clark County, Wash., jail pending extradition.
