BOSTON (AP) — Boston Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis left Monday’s game against Toronto in the fourth inning after getting hit by a pitch in the upper back.

Youkilis was hit by Blue Jays starter Brandon Morrow and replaced by pinch runner Yamaico Navarro, who started the fifth inning at third.

After he was hit, Youkilis went to his knees and stayed down for a few minutes while manager Terry Francona and a trainer came out to see him. He walked off on his own.

It was the 77th time he has been hit in his career, extending the club record.
