Letter: Make Oregonians pay extra for schools

The Columbian
Published: July 5, 2011, 12:00am

I would like to suggest that the school districts require parents/guardians to present a Washington driver’s license or identification card when registering their children in our schools.

This is not to deny those Oregon children the right to a public education, but the districts would be able to charge out-of-state tuition if the Oregon parents desire their children to have a better education system than is available in Oregon. Public education is not free. Those of us who pay our state taxes are tired of supporting those who refuse to do so.
