HARRISON, N.J. (AP) — Thierry Henry and Luke Rodgers scored in a five-minute span of the first half, and the New York Red Bulls moved into first place in the Eastern Conference with a 5-0 victory over Toronto FC Wednesday night.
Jan Gunnar Solli set up the goals in the 33rd and 38th minutes, and Joel Lindpere scored and assisted on two goals by Juan Agudelo in the second half to turn it into a rout. The five goals were a season high for New York.
Greg Sutton made four saves as New York moved a point ahead of Philadelphia — which has played two fewer games — with only its second win since May 7 (2-2-8).
Toronto, which snapped a nine-game winless streak last week, is 1-5-5 in its last 11 matches.
