DETROIT (AP) — Detroit slugger Miguel Cabrera is expected to play Friday night, three days after leaving the All-Star game with a minor injury.

Tigers manager Jim Leyland says Cabrera is fine. Detroit returns from the break Friday when the Tigers host the Chicago White Sox.

Cabrera left the All-Star game Tuesday night after hurting an oblique muscle in his side while swinging. The first baseman is hitting .311 with 18 home runs and 59 RBIs this season.

Detroit has brought left-hander Brad Thomas off the disabled list and sent him outright to Triple-A Toledo. Thomas was bothered by inflammation of his left elbow.
