Olympia WA police investigate newborn's death
Monday, July 18, 2011
OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -- Thurston County authorities say they haven't determined if a newborn baby boy found dead in an Olympia home was alive at birth.
KOMO-TV reports Olympia police will consider the death suspicious until its cause is determined.
Thurston County Medical Examiner Gary Warnock says the boy was pronounced dead around 1 p.m. Monday at his home on the city's west side. He was found after a 28-year-old woman was brought by ambulance to a local hospital. She had been complaining of abdominal bleeding and pain, but did not reveal her recent pregnancy.
Police say hospital staff found evidence she had recently given birth.
