TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher heads to the Atlantic Coast Conference’s annual football kickoff festivities embracing preseason predictions that have the Seminoles favored to win their first ACC title since 2005 and possibly contend for a national championship.

Fisher, quarterback EJ Manuel and defensive end Brandon Jenkins are in Pinehurst, N.C., where they’re likely to be the center of attention at the ACC meetings Sunday and Monday in view of the lofty expectations they face this season.

Fisher knows he can’t escape those expectations, especially at a school that put together one of the great runs in college football history between 1987 and 2000. And the second-year coach is confident that he’s accumulated the talent, experience and now size to get back among the big boys.
