QUETTA, Pakistan (AP) — Police say gunmen have killed 11 minority Shiite Muslims in a sectarian attack on a minibus in southwestern Pakistan.

Senior police official Hamid Shakeel says two people were also wounded in Saturday’s attack in the city of Quetta.

He says the victims were going to nearby Hazara town when the assailants ambushed the minibus before fleeing.

Pakistan has a history of sectarian violence. Although most majority Sunnis and Shiites live peacefully together, small extremist groups on both sides often target each other’s leaders and activists.
