LOS ANGELES (AP) — Shaun White won his second gold medal in the X Games skateboard vert competition Saturday night, dramatically edging rival Pierre-Luc Gagnon on their final run.

White scored a 93.00 on his last chance against Gagnon, the three-time defending X Games champion. Gagnon crashed moments later, and White celebrated his first X Games title in vert since 2007.

White is a two-time Olympic snowboarding gold medalist with a thriving two-sport career, but lost to Gagnon at last year’s X Games.

White fell behind Gagnon midway through the final after Gagnon posted a 91.66, but Gagnon missed a chance to run out the clock on his penultimate run with an early crash. Given one last chance, White landed an impressive combination of tricks for the winning score.

Veteran Bucky Lasek finished third.
