Letter: Unwise to shut down wind turbines

The Columbian
Published: June 1, 2011, 5:00pm

I read in the paper that we are having higher than normal water runoff in the Columbia River and producing massive amounts of hydroelectricity. That should be a good thing, but, no, someone decided we better shut down the wind farms because they don’t have a market for the extra power. Maybe we should shut down one of those big electrical generating plants that run on fossil fuels. Let’s save some fuel for something that needs to have a fossil fuel.

It is so stupid to shut down millions of dollars worth of wind turbines in the Gorge and yet continue burning fossil fuels to generate electricity. We’re all going to cook. Hmmm, who makes money from burning fossil fuels?
