Former Ore. DA: Sex harassment complaint dismissed

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) — A sexual harassment and discrimination complaint against former Umatilla County district attorney Dean Gushwa has been dismissed.

The East Oregonian reports the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries dismissed that complaint for lack of evidence.

The agency has also dismissed related complaints the woman made against the state and county, claiming they failed to protect her from Gushwa and retaliation from other employees.

A state investigator found the woman didn’t rebuff Gushwa’s sexual advances and welcomed the relationship with Gushwa until she learned he was sexually involved with another female employee.

The woman still works in the district attorney’s office. But Gushwa recently resigned as district attorney in a plea agreement to avoid a trial for official misconduct and contempt of court.
