COUPEVILLE, Wash. (AP) — A former Washington and Florida resident wanted for investigation of a 2003 homicide on Whidbey Island has been arrested in Mexico.

The Charlotte County sheriff’s office in Punta Gorda, Fla., says former Punta Gorda businessman and musician James Huden was arrested Thursday in Vera Cruz and held for extradition.

Sgt. Rick Goff says Huden had been giving guitar lessons under the name Maestro Jim.

Huden grew up on Whidbey Island and returned in 2003 for a visit. He’s wanted in connection with the death of 31-year-old Russel Douglas who was found shot on Dec. 26, 2003, in a car in Freeland.

Island County sheriff’s detectives went to Florida in August 2004 to question Huden. The investigation was interrupted by hurricanes Charley and Frances.
