Clark County — Share Inc., a local agency serving the hungry and homeless, will operate its SummerSLAM program at Silver Star Elementary School in July.
SummerSLAM (Student Learning Active Minds) will provide breakfast, lunch and educational enrichment to more than 600 children, from pre-K to high school. There will be computer and art classes, outdoor activities, programs provided by OMSI and field trips. SummerSLAM is free to participants.
“Breakfast and lunch are served each day, providing added nutrition to a population that is otherwise at risk of being hungry during the time away from school’s free breakfasts and lunches,” said Diane McWithey, Executive Director of Share. “Emergency food relief is also offered by providing extra free food to families of the participants during the program.” The food is provided via the federal Simplified Summer Food Program for Children.
SummerSLAM will run from July 5 to July 29, with breakfast served at 8:30 a.m. and lunch at noon. Silver Star Elementary is at 10500 N.E. 86th Street.
Registration opens at 6 p.m. Monday in the Silver Star gymnasium. Or, you can register the morning of July 5 at Silver Star school.
