PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Marie Callender’s restaurants in Salem, Ore., and the Portland suburbs of Beaverton and Gresham are closing as part of the parent company’s filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Monday’s filing by Memphis, Tenn.-based Perkins & Marie Callender’s Inc. included plans to shutter 65 stores and cut 2,500 jobs, or about 20 percent of its workforce of 12,350.

The Oregonian says it’s unclear how many jobs will be lost in Oregon. Restaurant spokeswoman Vivian Brooks confirmed the Oregon locations targeted. She said the Eugene and Medford locations would remain open.

The company cited the weak economy.
