TAEGERSCHEN, Switzerland (AP) — Borut Bozic of Slovenia has won the fifth stage of the Tour of Switzerland and Damiano Cunego of Italy retained the overall lead.
Bozic won the sprint in the last 500 meters to the finish line Wednesday to beat Oscar Freire of Spain, clocking 4 hours, 44 minutes, 48 seconds for the 130-mile run from Huttwil to Taegerschen.
It was a first stage victory of the season for Bozic, who finished second overall in last year’s Tour of Britain.
Cunego retained his 54-second overall lead over Juan Mauricio Soler of Colombia.
Thursday’s sixth stage is a 98-mile route from Taegerschen to Triesenberg, Liechtenstein.
