EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — The Cambridge, England, company Abcam has purchased the Eugene biotech firm MitoSciences for $6 million.

MitoSciences general manager John Audette told The Register Guard the deal frees the Eugene firm to concentrate on research and manufacturing and grow more quickly than it would on its own.

MitoSciences was spun off from the work of two University of Oregon professors. It has 23 employees and makes monoclonal antibodies used in drug development.
