Letter: Research supports use of vaccines

In response to Juliette Semro’s June 11 letter, “Consider effects of vaccines,” research over the last several years has proven that there is no link between thimerosal and autism. The cause of autism is still under investigation, but the theory the vaccines were the link is now a dead issue.

Vaccines are far safer than a lot of over-the-counter medications, and to avoid vaccines is actually putting one’s health at greater risk. Vaccines are designed to boost a person’s immune systems. Besides, strong opinions do not make a person right, especially when the research proves that those opinions are wrong.
