WOODBURN, Ore. (AP) — Police in Woodburn, Ore., used tear gas on a disruptive hotel guest and forced their way into the room he refused to leave.

In a statement, police said the man checked into the Woodburn Best Western about 4 a.m. Wednesday. By about 9:30 a.m., hotel staff had called police, saying the man was disrupting other guests and yelling at them in the lobby.

Police say the man ignored officers at his door and hung up when they called his room. Interpreting the reaction as a barricade, the tactical unit tossed tear gas canisters through a window and burst into the room.

The Oregonian says 53-year-old Michael Bradley Moore was arrested for investigation of trespassing and interfering with an officer. Police took him to the Portland Veterans Administration Medical Center.
