Thursday’s Blazers pre-draft workouts

Kyle Singler

Age: 23

Position: Forward

Height/Weight: 6-8, 230

College: Duke

Noteworthy: Was the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player after the Blue Devils won the national title in 2010. He also was a four-year starter at Duke, averaging 16.2 points per game for his career, which ranks fourth on the program’s all-time scoring ledger. Singler also shot .399 from 3-point distance as a junior.

Draft projection: NBA Draft Express currently has Singler as the No. 24 overall pick. His 3-point shooting percentage dipped 0.78 points from his junior to senior year, and while he is fundamentally sound and considered ready to make an immediate impact, he lacks athleticism compared to his potential NBA peers.

Jeremy Tyler

Age: 19

Position: Forward/Center

Height/Weight: 6-10, 260

Team: Tokyo Apache

Noteworthy: Tyler skipped his senior year of high school to play professional basketball in Israel, then went to Japan a year later. He averaged 9.9 points and 6.4 rebounds for Tokyo Apache last year, and 2.1 points and 1.9 rebounds in the Israeli League the season before. Tyler said he does not regret the unconventional path he has taken to the NBA, and has been eyeing June 23 for two years now. He also had a documentary crew following him since his sophomore year of high school.

Draft projection: Draft Express has Tyler going as the seventh pick in the second round, although there isn’t much consensus on when he might be taken. His athleticism is among the best in the draft, but still has skills in need of refinement.

Nikola Vucevic

Age: 20

Position: Forward

Height/Weight: 6-10, 240

College: USC

Noteworthy: Vucevic averaged 17.1 points per game in his third and final years with the Trojans, grabbing 10.3 points per game while shooting .505 from the field. Was named to the All Pac-10 First Team and represented Montenegro at the 2009 U-20 European championships.

Draft projection: Draft Express has Vucevic going as the No. 23 overall pick. Though not extremely athletic, the big man has gained significant muscle weight over the past few years while refining his jump shot to the point that he is a legitimate outside threat.

Jon Leuer

Age: 22

Position: Forward

Height/Weight: 6-10, 228

College: Wisconsin

Noteworthy: Averaged 18.3 points per game his senior year with the Badgers while grabbing 7.2 rebounds and shooting 47 percent from the field. Was a first-team All-Big Ten selection as a senior as well as an honorable mention AP All-American.

Draft projection: Draft Express has Leuer going as the 17th pick in the second round, and lists his as the ninth-best forward in the draft.
