SEATTLE (AP) — A man who punched a smaller, developmentally disabled man from behind as they both got off a Seattle bus has been sentenced to seven years in prison.
The Seattle Times says Raymel J. Curry was sentenced Friday in King County Superior Court for his second-degree assault conviction.
The Sept. 17 attack was captured on the bus’ surveillance video. The victim suffered a broken jaw and deep head cuts. Charging papers say he crashed head-first on a window ledge, then fell to the sidewalk.
Before the attack, Curry reportedly yelled threats and profanity, some of it directed at the victim.
