TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — A Pierce County, Wash., sheriff’s officer says a woman has been found dead in her home and her estranged husband has been taken a hospital with self-inflicted wounds.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer says a co-worker called authorities, concerned that the 50-year-old woman had now shown up for work Monday. Deputies found two bodies lying on the floor, then the 47-year-old man opened his eyes. Troyer tells The News Tribune deputies had to use a stun gun on the man to subdue him.

Investigators say they think the man killed his wife and then tried to commit suicide. He is expected to survive.

Troyer says the man will be arrested for investigation of murder when he is released from the hospital. The two were not immediately identified.
