Yakima police captain in sex scandal reinstated

YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) -- A Yakima police captain who was demoted last year for having sex with two female sergeants will be reinstated to his rank with back pay and benefits.

KAPP reports an arbitrator determined last month that the discipline against Rod Light was not warranted because the police policy at the time did not specifically prohibit the type of relationship he had with the sergeants.

The Yakima City Council decided Wednesday not to appeal the decision.

Mayor Micah Cawley says the policy has been revised to make it clear that sex between supervisors and subordinates is unacceptable.
