Durant doubtful against Hawks with ankle injury

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — NBA scoring leader Kevin Durant was held out of the Oklahoma City Thunder’s practice on Thursday with a sprained left ankle and coach Scott Brooks says it’s doubtful he will play Friday night at Atlanta.

Durant said after practice that he “tried to get some shots up but they wouldn’t let me.” He rolled his ankle when he stepped on Tyler Hansbrough’s foot on a drive to the basket in the third quarter Wednesday night.

Durant says the good news is that he hasn’t experienced the swelling he had when he sprained the same ankle and had to miss two games in November.

Brooks says guard James Harden would likely start in Durant’s place if he’s unable to play against the Hawks.
