Tennessee Tech defeats Tennessee-Martin 83-59

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Zac Swansey’s 3-pointer at the end of the first half capped a torrid run which helped fourth-seeded Tennessee Tech secure an 83-59 victory over Tennessee-Martin in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament Thursday night.

The Golden Eagles (19-11) trailed 18-12 with 8:26 to play in the first half, and outscored the Skyhawks 26-6 over the remainder of the half.

Tennessee Tech, which led 38-24 at halftime, will play top-seeded Murray State in Friday night’s first semifinal game.

Kevin Murphy led the Golden Eagles with 24 points, while Jud Dillard added 16 and Swansey finished with 12.

Eighth-seeded Tennessee-Martin (12-21), which had upset fifth-seeded Tennessee State to advance to the quarterfinals, was led by Terence Smith and Benzor Simmons with 16 points each. Reuben Clayton added 11 for the Skyhawks.
